When do we need to enrol for the following year?
Enrolments for students who live inside the school zone are accepted at any time. When enrolling for Foundation (Prep) however, early enrolment is appreciated so that staffing and transition can be efficiently organised. Families who wish to be considered for enrolment are advised to enrol early.
Foundation students need to be 5 by the 30th of April on their year of commencement.
Is my child ready to start school?
We regularly receive questions from parents of Foundation students asking if we think their child is ready to start school. The best person to ask about this is the Kindergarten / Early Learning Centre Teacher. All children are different and they will be able to advise you in relation to your child's readiness. Academic achievement is not a pre-requisite for school commencement. Social and emotional maturity is a much more important indicator as to whether your child is ready for school.
What is the International Baccalaureate, Primary Years Programme?
The IB, Primary Years Programme is a curriculum framework which authorised schools use to ensure that the curriculum they provide their students is globally significant, concept based and exposes students to robust ideas, which are important to understand wherever you live in the world. All students complete six inquiry units per year which address the Primary Years Programme's trans-disciplinary themes. Further information is available under curriculum - Primary Years Programme.
Do you teach the basics?
All students are provided with a comprehensive, structured Maths and English programme which ensures that they are able to develop strong numeracy and literacy skills. This includes daily sustained instruction in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation and all strands of Mathematics. Student achievement data in both English and Mathematics is very pleasing. Core Curriculum subjects are comprehensively taught using both the inquiry approach and explicit instruction.
How do I organise to see the school?
Tours for prospective families are provided regularly by the Principal or Assistant Principal. Tour dates are advertised under the latest news section of this website.
